The Tasty Specials Band is an eclectic mix of musicians that are well versed in the annals of Americana. A newcomer to a Tasty Specials Band show can expect a nice mix of originals, paired well with some of your favorite songs from the past 75 years. Adding extra garnish to this Tasty plate of tunage, is the exceptional harmonies provided by Leslie Fogg and Thom Somerville.
No tasty plate of tunes can go without the meat and bones of the band! To round out the sound you can find Thom Somerville on guitar, Ron Knobler on Bass, and Darryl Lawson on Percussion. Your palate will be satisfied with this fantastic night of tunes.
The original songs are written by Thom as well as a Songwriting team called SomerLand. These songs have a heavy base in Blues, Jam, Reggae, with a sprinkle of New Orleans, and have taken on a flavor of their own. Even when playing tunes by Dylan, or Bob Marley, or Cyndi Lauper you will hear a flavor unique to the Tasty Specials!
The Tasty Specials have been playing together for almost two decades. They have played wonderful stages all over the state of Virginia, Maryland, and North Carolina. Such stages include the Church Hill Irish Festival, The Camel, Three Notch’d Brewery, The Virginia Governor’s Mansion to name a few. The Tasty Specials are working hard so you don’t have to. So, come on out and enjoy a night of great music, fun, and entertainment, your musical appetite will be satisfied!

“In beat up jeans and a VCU tee, Patrick sits across from me on his beloved tempurpedic bed. He refers to it as the cloud and he’s not lying. That thing is the bomb. “I don’t normally talk to people about this stuff,” he says stiffly. Cracking a smile, he adds, “that would be like actually explaining what my songs mean…that’s for the listener to figure out”. Patrick is a 30-year-old singer/songwriter with music in his brain the way that air fills the rest of the world’s lungs. He picked up a guitar in 2005, and it wasn’t long before he was crooning his self-written tunes, peppered with a few covers, at local Richmond events.
