Here they come, walking down the street…
Long time Taters fans will tell you that their holiday shows are some of their favorites! For over 25 years the band has pulled out all the stops on Halloween to present an always unique experience. This year, the show will be opened by the original boy band from 1966, The Monkees. If you look close enough, you might recognize some of the players!
The Taters play what they call Roots-Pop: an eclectic mix of roots, rock, power-pop, and Americana, a sound that’s been described as “a curious mix of Mavericks, Everly Brothers, Roy Orbison and Beatles… Billboard Magazine calls it “American roots-rock with thoroughly modern, totally hip sensibilities“. The Washington Post says The Taters “Successfully combine the best elements of Buddy Holly with the vocal harmonies of the Everly Brothers.” No matter what the style, the music always centers around vocal melodies and harmonies, and it’s hard to walk away from a show without humming the songs. No Depression magazine describes it like this: “Think ‘Beatles For Sale’ if Marty Robbins were a primary influence instead of Carl Perkins.”
Their Halloween album, ‘DON’T SCREAM!‘ features originals and covers of some of our favorite spooky tunes, and features an intro by local late-night horror TV legend The Bowman Body. There’s a Bradbury-inspired song (“On Halloween“), a Lovecraftian mambo (“Yog Shuf’fel“), and even a few Buck Owens covers!
